QCVN02: 2009 / BYT- National regulation on domestic water quality.
QCVN01: 2009 / BYT-National regulation on drinking water quality.
Depending on the total mineralized content (TDS), water is classified into types: light water TDS <1000 mg / l, brackish water TDS:> 1000 mg / l ~ 12000 mg / l and salt water TDS> 12000 mg / l. Seawater with TDS: 32000 ~ 50 000 mg / l (32 o/oo ~ 45 o/oo).
In Vietnam, most of the source water entering the treatment system is light water, with the main components to be removed are: suspended sediment (SS), organic matter, algae, microorganisms, and Iron, Manganese. (at low concentrations) in surface water, and the ingredients to remove in groundwater are usually Iron, Manganese and stabilized in pH.
However, at present, brackish water or seawater treatment systems to serve domestic and production needs in areas where fresh water is scarce in coastal areas or islands far from the mainland, many investors have built build more and more.

In special cases when the raw water has too high organic and N-NH4 content, a suitable biological treatment process will be selected for the pre-treatment before the above processes.
